The Frame Matcher was designed to reduce uncertainty in the online eyewear journey. For the business, this translates into:

  • simplified purchase flow with shorter decision time
  • fewer abandoned sessions, improved CR
  • lower risk of returns caused by poor fit

The feature was shaped and validated through research and testing to ensure it solved the confidence gap at the heart of the funnel drop-off.

⬤ 01. RESEARCH

Weaknesses in the buyer journey

“I don’t know which frame looks good on my face, so I’m not confident buying online.”

We ran exploratory research to understand why users struggled to buy eyewear online. We found a clear pattern:

  • Users weren’t sure which frames suited their face shape
  • They didn’t trust the photos of models because “they don’t look like me”
  • They often added multiple frames to the cart “just in case”
  • Many paused or abandoned the process due to uncertainty
⬤ 02. PROTOTYPE

Frame Match

FACE SHAPE-BASED ADVICE

With this feature, users can either scan or upload a photo of their face to filter the top 3 best-fit frames. The system generates images of them wearing each best-fit model.

CHANGE THE OLD FRAMES

Old frames wearing out? If the model’s discontinued, just upload a picture. The system recommends the best-matching eyeglasses from the database.

Testing & additional features

Testing showed that the Frame Matcher helped users choose faster, and feel more confident in completing the purchase.

Additionally, from the PDP or the cart, we added an optional in-store fitting service to ensure perfect comfort.
